How to Get Your Horse's Focus Back in the Warm-Up Pen

The warm-up pen can be full of distractions, and this was a great example of why it's so important to have a plan. Cole felt like Dini was getting distracted by everything happening around him, so instead of fighting through it, we went back to the basics. We worked on getting Dini's attention back on Cole using simple softening exercises and our calm-down cue. When your horse gets overwhelmed or loses focus, don't worry about what everyone else is doing. Focus on reconnecting with your horse. Those simple foundation exercises are what build confidence and prepare you for success when it's time to enter the show pen.
