We've got a big one today, my friends! The longest drum cover of the month goes to none other than the brilliant Herbie Hancock! Hancock is a prolific titan in jazz and jazz fusion, and has been consistently producing incredible material for over 50 years. This is perhaps his best known tune, and all 15 minutes of it are a privilege to listen to and play. The drumming done on this track by Harvey Mason is completely phenomenal, and a great balance between keeping it simple and busting out the fancy chops. I make many mistakes throughout my 15 minute rendition, and there's no way I'll ever play this as well as Harvey Mason. This drum cover is one of a series of 30 throughout the month of September, acknowledging Black Artists throughout the last century that have indisputably shaped modern music.
