#CgOnlineTv #Mhakama Four court employees have been arraigned at the Tabora District Court facing charges of embezzlement of more than 103 million shillings of inheritance funds, after allegedly allowing the funds to be paid to beneficiaries in Mtwara Region instead of legitimate heirs in Tabora Region. The suspects have been charged with economic sabotage case number 14551 of 2026 before the Presiding Magistrate of the Tabora District Court, Shahibu Mzanda. They face three charges which are embezzlement of funds, abuse of power and causing loss to the Government. Reading the charge sheet, the State Attorney and Prosecutor of the Tabora Regional PCCB, Joseph Mulebya, said the incident allegedly occurred on April 9, 2022, when the suspects were employees of the Tabora Zone High Court. It is alleged that they abused their positions by allowing inheritance funds to be paid contrary to the law and procedures. According to the prosecution, the charge of embezzlement is contrary to Section 28(1) of the Prevention and Combating of Corruption Act, while the charge of abuse of power is under Section 31 of the same act. In addition, a charge of causing loss to the Government has been filed under various sections of the Economic Offences Act. Due to the fact that the case is an economic offence, the accused were not required to answer anything in court as the District Court does not have the jurisdiction to hear it until it obtains permission from the High Court. The accused in the case are Court Accountants, Beda Mnyanga Nyansila, Charles Paul Gekula and Bakari Hamisi Kisesa, as well as Procurement Officer, Happiness Peter Njau. The first accused is reported to be detained in Mtwara region. Speaking after the accused were brought to court, the Tabora Regional PCCB Commander, Azza Mtaita, said that an investigation into the case has been carried out and legal steps have been taken to ensure justice is done. Three suspects who appeared in court today have been remanded in custody after failing to meet bail conditions. The case has been adjourned until July 14, 2026, when it will come up for mention, while the first suspect currently in custody in Mtwara region is expected to be arraigned at the Tabora District Court.
