Thunderbolt 5 eGPU Is Here! Sparkle Studio G Ultra 850 Tested
Thunderbolt 5 eGPUs are finally getting serious. Today I’m testing the new Sparkle Studio G Ultra 850 – a Thunderbolt 5 / USB4 v2 eGPU enclosure with a built-in 850W PSU that can handle up to a 3.5-slot RTX 5090, plus extra I/O on the back. In this video I drop an RTX 5080 into the dock, hook it up to the Minisforum M02 Ultra over USB4 and USB4 v2, and see how much performance we actually gain with Thunderbolt 5 class bandwidth. We’ll go over real-world FPS differences, CUDA-Z bandwidth tests, and a couple of heavy AAA games like Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Spider-Man 2, and Cyberpunk 2077.
