The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever memorizes the opening ten verses of Surah Al-Kahf will be protected from the Antichrist." (Muslim, "Musafirin", 257) Enjoy! About the Surah Surah Al-Kahf has 110 (one hundred and ten) verses. It was revealed in Mecca. However, there is also a narration that verse 28 was revealed in Medina. The Surah takes its name from the "Companions of the Cave," which are mentioned in it. In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful 1. Praise be to Allah, who has revealed the Book (the Quran) to His servant and has not distorted it. 2,3,4. (God made it) a correct book to warn (those who do not believe) of a severe punishment from Him, to give good tidings to the believers who do righteous deeds of a good reward (Paradise) wherein they will abide eternally, and to warn those who say, "God has begotten a child." 5. Neither they nor their ancestors had any knowledge of this matter. What a terrible word that has come out of their mouths! They are only lying. 6. So, if they do not believe in this (Quran), you will be consumed by sorrow behind them!(1) (1) This verse consoles the Prophet, who was deeply saddened by humanity's decline in every aspect, especially in the areas of faith and morality. Verse 3 of Surah Ash-Shu'ara and verse 97 of Surah Al-Hijr are verses of the same nature. 7. We have indeed made the earth an adornment for it, that We may test which of the people do best. 8. We will surely make everything on earth a dry land. 9. Or do you think that the Companions of the Cave and the Companions of the Raqeem were among Our proofs? 10. And when they took refuge in the cave and said, "Our Lord, grant us mercy from Yourself and make easy for us the right path in this state in which we are now." 11. So We closed their ears (to the outside world) for many years. 12. Then We awakened them so that We might know which of the two groups was better at calculating the time they waited. 13. We relate to you their news in truth: they were young men who believed in their Lord. We increased their guidance. (3) (3) It is narrated that the story of the Companions of the Cave dates back to the time of the Byzantine emperor Decuis (Dekyanus). 14,15. When they stood up and said, "Our Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth. We never call any god other than Him. Otherwise, we would be speaking nonsense. These, this people of ours, have taken gods other than Him. If only they had produced clear proof about them! And who is more unjust than the one who invents lies against Allah?" We strengthened their hearts. 16. (One of them said,) "Since you have turned away from them and from what they worship other than Allah, then retreat into the cave so that your Lord may extend His mercy to you and provide you with things that you may enjoy in your state." (4) (4) After this conversation, the Companions of the Cave fell asleep. The following verses describe their state while they were asleep. 17. (If you had been there,) you would have seen the sun when it rose, moving to the right side of their cave, and when it set, it would have moved to the left, without touching them. They were in a wide part of the cave. This is among the signs of Allah. And whomever Allah guides, he is the rightly guided. And whomever He leads astray, you will not find for him any guide. 18. You would have thought them awake, while they were asleep. We were turning them to the right and to the left. Their dog was lying at the entrance of the cave, with both arms outstretched. If you had seen them, you would have surely turned away from them and been filled with fear at what you saw. 19. So We woke them up so that they might ask one another. One of them asked, "How long have you stayed?" They said, "A day, or less than a day." Others said, "Your Lord knows best how long you have stayed. Now send one of you to the city with this silver coin, and let him see which of the people of the city has the purest food and from it he will bring you sustenance. And he should be very gentle and not make anyone aware of you." 20. "For if they seize you, they will either stone you to death or convert you to their religion.
