Stuart Bailie pays tribute to Bap Kennedy, 'One of Northern Ireland's great songwriters'

Copyright belongs to Cliptorm/The Belfast Telegraph By Kirsten Elder Singer-songwriter Bap Kennedy, who lost his battle with cancer yesterday, has been described as one of the finest musicians ever to come out of Northern Ireland. The 54-year-old singer from west Belfast was diagnosed with the disease in May and passed away with his wife Brenda by his bedside. Stuart Bailie, Music Journalist and broadcaster said: “We always respected Bap but our kind of love for him at the end, you know, was just surging really, you know. “Bap Kennedy was one of the great songwriters from Northern Ireland, he wrote some beautiful songs about the City.” His death was announced on his Facebook page along with a message that said he had been extremely brave until the end.
