In this lesson (Darsa 4), Sheikh Mahmoud Mustwafa continues his series on the spiritual aphorisms of Al-Ḥikam al-ʿAṭā’iyya. The session focuses on how Allah introduces Himself to His servants and the wisdom behind the timing and nature of answered prayers. 1. The Wisdom of Answered Prayers [03:17] Trusting Allah's Timing: The Sheikh reminds the audience that while Allah has promised to answer prayers, He does so according to His wisdom and choice, not the servant's desire. The Three Forms of Answered Prayer: As per the Hadith, a prayer is answered in one of three ways: 1. The specific request is granted [05:18]. 2. Something more beneficial is given instead [05:27]. 3. The reward is stored for the Afterlife [05:38]. The Story of the Stored Reward: On the Day of Judgment, a servant will see rewards for prayers they thought went unanswered. Seeing the immense value of these stored rewards, the servant will wish that none of their earthly prayers had been answered in this life [06:21]. 2. Guarding Your Inner Sight (Basira) [07:23] Avoiding Doubt: One should not doubt Allah’s promise just because the response seems delayed. Doubt can cloud the heart's Basira (inner vision or spiritual insight) [10:32]. The Certainty of Faith: Unlike matters of jurisprudence (Fiqh), which are subject to interpretation and human error, matters of Aqidah (creed) must be built on 100% certainty (Yaqin) [08:30]. 3. How Allah Introduces Himself to You [26:06] Spiritual Introductions: Sometimes Allah opens a "door of introduction" for you to know Him more deeply. Introduction through Hardship: Allah may introduce Himself through challenges, such as illness or poverty. When human means fail, you are forced to recognize Allah as the only true Provider and Healer [32:41]. Introduction through Ease: He may also introduce Himself through spiritual "openings" (Fath) where you suddenly understand the deeper meanings of His names (like Ar-Rahman or Al-Malik) [31:32]. Action vs. Knowledge: The Sheikh explains that if Allah has opened the door for you to know Him, do not worry if your voluntary deeds (Amal) are few. Knowing Allah is a greater gift than the deeds themselves [36:37]. 4. The Body and Soul of Worship [43:21] The Image and the Spirit: Our physical acts of worship (praying, fasting) are like a "body" or a "picture." The Soul is Sincerity (Ikhlas): The "soul" that gives life to these acts is the secret of sincerity. Without Ikhlas, the worship is a lifeless shell [43:38]. 5. Closing Encouragement [38:51] The Sheikh concludes by reminding the congregation that being present in the mosque during Ramadan and having the desire to do good are signs of Allah's favor.
