The idea of ​​documenting the decline of a large cement factory led us to explore this site, still full of extremely interesting machinery from the 1950s. One of the most noteworthy relics of the old plant is the small cogeneration thermoelectric power plant, with its three turbogenerators capable of producing a total power of approximately 8 MW. In this video, we'll also discuss the history of this cement plant and see how Portland cement was produced, following the entire production process step by step. Opened in 1954, the Zaule cement plant played a significant role in the town's industrial history, employing several hundred workers and producing nearly 100,000 tons annually during its peak prosperity. Since 2010, the historic factory has been in crisis, and after being sold to the German company Heidelberg, it closed its doors permanently in 2019, falling into a sad state of abandonment, awaiting demolition.
