Prince Buthelezi's royal family lineage unpacked

President Cyril Ramaphosa has directed that flags be flown at half-mast at flag stations around the country until Saturday evening in honour of the late Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi, who passed away last Saturday at 95. Prince Buthelezi will be buried on Saturday and has been accorded a Special Official Funeral, Category One, granted to persons of extraordinary credentials with elements of military ceremonial honours. At the time of his passing, he held a critical role as the Prime Minister of the AmaZulu nation. He was instrumental in King Misuzulu KaZwelithini's takeover of the AmaZulu throne after his father's death, the late Zulu king Goodwill Zwelithini. To talk more about Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi's rich royal heritage, we are virtually joined by Doctor Mphumeleli Ngidi, a historian from the University of KwaZulu-Natal.
