Gustav Holst: Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity / DBS Woodwind Quintet

Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity Composer: Gustav Holst Arranger: Kara LaMoure To commemorate the 150th birthday of Gustav Holst, a great English composer, our Woodwind Quintet presents to you one of his most famous works. “Jupiter” is the fourth movement of Holst’s seven-movement orchestral suite, The Planets. Each movement of this orchestral suite is named after a planet. As the name “the Bringer of Jollity” suggests, the music of this movement is buoyant and exuberant, because Holst sees Jupiter as the planet representing the abundance of life and vitality.
