A tour-style railway event where you travel from Niigata Station on an E653-series train with a special curtain! The electronic display board at Niigata Station displays trains for groups only! Even though it's Niigata, there are many exhibits, including the E235-series 1000-series, commonly known as the Skyrange (J-05 train), for the Sobu Rapid and Yokosuka Lines, the E653-series Inaho train, the E129 series, and the 115 series in Shonan color! Don't miss the destination display curtain of the E235-1000, which displays the Kashima Soccer Stadium! You can even enter the driver's cab and experience being a conductor! This is what a driver's station festival is all about! It was fun! As part of the events during the "Niigata Prefecture/Shonai Area After Destination Campaign," JR East Niigata Branch will be holding a tour of the Niigata Vehicle Center, a conventional railway depot, for customers who use the "Echigo Two-Day Pass," a "value ticket" that allows unlimited use of ordinary trains (including rapid trains) within the free area for two days on ordinary car unreserved seats. On the day, please gather at JR Niigata Station and enjoy a trial ride on the "entrance and exit line" that is normally not available to the public, as well as the experience of passing through the "washing machine" of the car body. At the Niigata Rolling Stock Center, a "professional" in vehicle maintenance will guide you to the inspection and repair shop and demonstrate the daily work. You will enjoy an "out of the ordinary" moment in areas that are normally not accessible, such as vehicle exhibitions. The event will be held by prior application via the Internet. Vehicle exhibition We have a lineup of various vehicles, including our own vehicles. Niigata Rolling Stock Center was opened on May 24, 1974 (Showa 49) as the "Niigata Driving Station Kaminumatari Branch" of the then Japanese National Railways. Later, on November 1, 1986 (Showa 61), its predecessor, the "Kaminumatari Driving District," was established. On April 1, 2004 (Heisei 16), the name was changed to "Niigata Rolling Stock Center," and it remains so to this day. A total of 270 vehicles are affiliated with the center, including "trains" such as the E129 series and E653 series, the 12-series "Banetsu Monogatari" passenger car, and the "Kai-ri" (HB-E300 series diesel hybrid railcar), which debuted in October 2019 and allows passengers to enjoy the food and scenery of Niigata and Shonai.
