How to Catch Kokanee at Kawkawa Lake WITHOUT Downriggers!

We went Kokanee Salmon fishing at beautiful Kawkawa Lake, British Columbia, using a simple and effective method — jigging krill in 40 feet of water without downriggers! You don't need expensive gear to catch kokanee here. Just a small hook, some krill, a weight, and a boat will get you on the fish. Make sure you have at least 50 feet of anchor rope. The deepest we anchored was 43 feet deep. #kokaneefishing #kawkawalake #fishingbritishcolumbia 00:00 - Intro to Kawkawa Lake Kokanee Fishing 01:06 - Kawkawa Lake Boat Ramp and Park 02:44 - Locating Kokanee in 40 Feet of Water 04:02 - First Bite on the Bobber 04:48 - Kokanee Bites Marks Pink Krill 10:16 - First Coho Salmon on Chironomid 13:10 - Action Heats Up – Multiple Fish Landed 16:47 - Changing Locations To Catch More Fish 17:11 - Final Thoughts & Simple Tips for Beginners Using braided no-stretch line and a sensitive rod made it easier to feel subtle bites. This is a great way for beginners or families to target kokanee in BC’s interior lakes. 📍 Location: Kawkawa Lake, Hope, BC 🎣 Target Species: Kokanee Salmon 🧰 Gear Used: I was using a size number 4 single hook on 12 inches of 6 pound fluorocarbon leader material to a 1/8th ounce silver slender spoon. Then I had another 12 inches of line, a small swivel and a couple split shot weights above. The hook was tipped with a whole krill. My buddy Mark was just using a single hook tipped with whole krill, 12 inches of leader to the swivel and a small sliding egg sinker, 1/4 ounce. Mark was using braided main line which I will next time as well. It makes feeling the bites much easier in this deeper water. 📏 Depth: 40 ft (bottom fishing) ✅ Anyone with a boat can do this! 🎣 Have you tried fishing for Kokanee like this before?
