Eastern Hokkaido is famously beautiful! I chose to visit during the snowy winter (January 27 - February 9, 2026), drawn by the various winter-themed attractions. While ice skating at Kushiro Winter Park, I slipped and fell terribly, my butt splitting in two (it really hurt like hell!). Watching the local kids effortlessly playing ice hockey was probably the most frustrating part of my trip. The video realistically captures that moment of dejection and pain... Next, we moved to the Shiretoko Peninsula, where I experienced true tranquility. It's one of the areas with the highest concentration of brown bears in Hokkaido, and in winter, it's covered in drift ice—absolutely breathtaking! Being submerged in seawater and squeezed by ice blocks is something I strongly recommend everyone experience. Finally, I went to Abashiri. Upon arrival, I was greeted by a blizzard, which led to an unexpected illness. Although I couldn't capture many scenes, it still became a very memorable part of the trip.
