Aintree Sprint 2019 - Trials and Tribulations of Sprinting a 1959 Triumph TR3a

I have been chasing an intermittent misfire for months. the week before this event it was on a rolling road and was ok. at the event at aintree historic circuit it re-appeared with a vengeance. i nearly packed up and went home. i changed coils changed to electronic ignition renewed all engine bay fuel pipe changed 2 mechanical pumps fitted an electronic pump cleaned the carbs was running with half a tank of fuel (significantly more that usual and despite the misfire after the bend it wasn't fuel surge but with help from others and a last ditch blow through the fuel line it came right. suspect an old rubber joining pipe at the rear of the car that joins 2 sections of rigid metal pipe. i ended up with my fastest time at aintree and broke the 1 minute barrier ( just) with a 59.98s in the end very happy. just always persevere best previous time 60.25 what could have been if all my runs had worked !! however my speed is limited by my gearing with 185/55x15 tyres that are lowest profile allowed to give me better cornering stability over the 70 profile tyres.
