Sankey Valley Country Park sits along the historic Sankey Canal which dates from 1757 and was the first true canal of the Industrial Revolution in England. The accessible canal path runs for several miles through woodland with the canal alongside, Carr Mill Dam is the largest natural body of water in Merseyside and the long exposure water and reflection photography centrepiece of the route.
