The drop in temperatures and the presence of rain overnight have aided efforts to extinguish the wildfire in the Sierra de la Culebra, in the province of Zamora, where the various active fires are now burning out. Meanwhile, in Navarre, where several fires broke out on Saturday, the situation "remains critical," with five fires active and out of control. The greatest concern is the wind, with gusts causing concern in Catalonia and Aragon, where fires are still active, while in Castilla-La Mancha and the Valencian Community, the fires that broke out in recent days have already been declared under control. In Navarre, the situation resulting from the fires that broke out on Saturday remains "highly critical," according to the Vice President of the regional government, Javier Remírez, although the objective of protecting people has been met and the "best news" has been achieved: that at this time there are no serious personal injuries despite the evacuations of localities. Five of the fires remain active and out of control, and all available resources from Navarre are working on them, as well as support personnel from neighboring communities (Aragon, La Rioja, and the Basque Country) and the central government. The spread of the blazes centered in the municipality of Ujué has forced the evacuation of the towns of Maquirriain, Sansoáin, Olleta, and Lerga, which join those evacuated hours earlier from San Martín de Unx, Guirguillano, and Echarren de Guirguillano, SOS-Navarra reported.
