SUPPORT THE JOURNEY: $ARASATCHIMNA BALANTA NAMING CEREMONY:    • BALANTA NAMING CEREMONY 🇬🇼🦁🙌🏾   BALANTA DOCUMENTARY:    • THE BALANTA PEOPLE 🇬🇼✊🏿   During my pilgrimage to my ancestral homeland of Guine-Bissau, I participated in a traditional Balanta age-grade initiation ceremony. I became Nghaie, which is the age grade made up of 21-25 year old young men who are the main workers and protectors of the village. I embrace this role as it is one that is necessary in every healthy Afrikan community, including ones in the diaspora. I am sharing this experience to Inspire diasporans and descendants of Afrikans can conduct Sankofa (Reclamation) of their ancestral culture!
