Jay Jon Christopher Smith, born 29 April 1981 in Helsingborg, Sweden is a Swedish singer and guitarist. He won the Swedish Idol 2010 title, beating Minnah Karlsson in the final[. Jay also plays in the band Von Benzo, that has two albums released. During Idol 2010, he created controversy after announcing that he had smoked marijuana at one point during the program series. . But TV4 television station running the show let him stay in the competition, provided he would not use it again during the Idol program. Smith's first solo single was "Dreaming People". He released his debut album, the self-titled Jay Smith on 19 December 2010. The album shot straight to #1 in its first week of release in the Swedish Albums Chart.
