Rou Jia Mo Sandwich (200ish B.C. /International)

I know everyone thinks that the Earl of Montagu, aka The Earl of Sandwich, invented the sandwich but given how long bread has been around, do we really think no one put stuff between two pieces of bread before the 1750s? Take the Rou Jia Mo from the Shaanxi region of China. Created some around 200 BC this street food involves spiced meat in a bun. And yes, they stuff it rather than have two pieces of bread but I would argue the intent is the same. That is a portable meal you can eat with your hands involving bread. This video is a bit longer than my usual ones but then again, I’m making everything from scratch. Plus, there’s a special appearance by the one and only Jim, aka @SandwicheIdiot. ⁣ Sign up for my free weekly recap! https://sandwiches-of-history.ghost.io/ Why not subscribe and hit that bell for more sandwich action?
