Caso Henry Borel: Jairinho é condenado a 43 anos e Monique recebe perdão judicial
After ten days of trial, the 2nd Jury Court of Rio de Janeiro convicted Jairo Souza Santos Júnior of the crimes of doubly qualified homicide, torture and coercion during the course of the process for the death of Henry Borel. The sentence was set at 43 years, 9 months and 20 days of imprisonment. Monique Medeiros, on the other hand, had the charge of intentional homicide downgraded by the Jury Council, which determined that it was culpable homicide due to negligence. Judge Elizabeth Machado Louro granted judicial pardon for the crime. Monique, however, was convicted of omission in relation to the torture suffered by her son. The sentence was read in the early hours of Thursday (04), ending one of the longest trials in the recent history of the State of Rio de Janeiro.
