Repairing my Philips DCC600 - What a fiddly job!
This video covers the repair of a Philips DCC600 Digital Compact Cassette Deck. The belts were actually still ok, but I decided to swap them anyway while I had the machine apart, before they became a problem. The reel idler gear, on the other hand, had disintegrated and needed replacing, which turned out to be one of the most fiddly jobs I've ever tackled. The job was made even more difficult by the horrible cheap plastic mechanism, but amazingly I managed not to break anything! This video by @DRDCC of the DCC Museum was invaluable • Finally! New Gears for Any 2nd Generation ... I would probably not have attempted this repair without that video. 00:00 - Intro 01:25 - Removing the Deck 03:49 - Swapping the Belts 10:22 - Gaining Access to the Idler Gear 19:22 - Swapping the Idler Gear 21:38 - Reassembling the Deck 25:11 - Putting the Deck back into the Chassis 26:03 - First Test following reassembly 29:55 - It works!
