The Making of a Calypso Prodigy at Kitchener's Tent
The Calypso Rev*ue (or Kalypso Rev*e) is a legendary performance space founded in 1964 by the "Grandmaster of Calypso," Lord Kitchener (Aldwyn Roberts), and businessman Leslie Lucky Samaroo. For over 30 years, Kitchener used this "tent"—a traditional venue for seasonal carnival performances—to nurture the talent of some of the most iconic figures in Caribbean music.
