Finding Peace in the Mountains - Hiking to Watersprite Lake, BC
This week’s hike takes me deep into the Squamish backcountry to the breathtaking Watersprite Lake. Getting there is part of the adventure — after a one hour drive along dirt roads, the trail climbs for several hours through beautiful wilderness. Along the way, there are breathtaking views of the Mamquam Valley and Diamond Head, peaceful creeks, cascading waterfalls, stunning wildflowers and a beautiful stretch of old-growth forest just before reaching the lake. The reward is an unforgettable alpine setting. Watersprite Lake is truly a special place — the stunning turquoise water, dramatic snow-capped mountains, and peaceful atmosphere create a landscape that feels almost magical. There were plenty of mosquitoes waiting at the lake, but even they couldn’t take away from the beauty of this incredible mountain destination. I only included some of the journey up so the focus could be on the serenity and beauty around the lake.
