Hello. Today I'll touch on the everyday life and problems of people living on the land. Maintaining a garden, lawn, and grass, whether in a village, a rural area, or a summer cottage, brings a lot of trouble to homeowners. Everyone manages their property at their own discretion. And my personal preference, given the size of the garden, is a gasoline-powered garden tool – an old-school trimmer/brushcutter. Despite being Chinese-made, my device is in good condition, with proper maintenance, of course. So, what's all this about? The biggest problem with a garden brushcutter is the trimmer head. Over many years of use, this is the only part I replace at least once per season. The line feed button on the spool is the one that's failing. This button wears out completely. It rubs against the ground during operation and also when the line is being fed, putting maximum strain on the button. Using expensive spools isn't economically feasible. The cost of mowing grass is skyrocketing, and the quality of original mowing heads is crap these days. Replacing the button with a solid one only made the mowing head heavier, thereby ruining the head as a whole. In the end, we decided to use a cheap Chinese reel, but with some clever modifications. Specifically, we reinforced the weak point of the mowing head. As you might have guessed, we'll be reinforcing the stop/button on the trimmer/brushcutter's mowing head. All you need is an idea, a desire, and a steady hand. All the work can be done in the garage, with your own hands. See how and what we'll be doing in this video.
