Come With Me.. Discover The municipality of Acará, in the state of Pará, had its origins during the Portuguese colonial expansion, when explorers used the Acará River as a "natural road" to the interior of the province. The city was founded at the fork in the river, becoming a point of colonization. In 1858, the town was elevated to the category of parish of São José. In 1876, due to the development of the region, the municipality of São José de Acará was created. The word "Acará" has Tupi origins, meaning "the one who bites", in reference to a local fish. It welcomed a significant colony of Japanese immigrants, mainly in the region of the "Colônia Paes de Carvalho", where agriculture, especially the planting of black pepper, is important.  More Details: Origins: Acará emerged from the exploration of the Pará territory by the Portuguese, using the Acará River as a means of transport and the establishment of colonization centers.  Foundation: The settlement that developed at the fork in the Acará River was, in 1858, elevated to the parish of São José.  Creation of the Municipality: The development of the region led to the creation of the municipality of São José de Acará in 1876.  Meaning of the name: "Acará" is a Tupi word that refers to a local fish.  Japanese Colony: The presence of a significant colony of Japanese emigrants in Acará, particularly in the "Colônia Paes de Carvalho", contributed to the local economy and culture, with agriculture standing out, especially black pepper.
