Today, a short distance from the main road from Jerusalem, a French Trappist monastery lies in a picturesque setting of vineyards. I visit the impressive church. At the entrance to the grounds, in the shop, you can buy the fine wines and liqueurs produced by the monks here. On the way back, I stop in Abu Ghoush (Gosh). The Ark of the Covenant was kept in the local house of Abinadab for 20 years. Today, the Church of Our Lady of the Ark of the Covenant stands on this site. Nearby, I visit a very interesting Crusader monastery, which is under the care of the Benedictines.
