Two men will be in the field: one will be taken, and the other left. But what does this really mean? God chooses his favorites? Jesus doesn't speak of a rapture, but of the moment when God passes by and the heart of man is revealed. In the "days of Noah," the flood took the distracted, not the righteous. In the Gospel, however, Christ uses a verb that changes everything: παραλαμβάνεται – paralambánetai, “to be taken close to.” It is not an act of force, but a gesture of love. To be taken by God means to allow oneself to be drawn into His intimacy. Who is taken? Those who let themselves be grasped. Who is left behind? Those who cling to themselves.
