The Synoptic Problem: Debating The lost gospel, Q Source! (Q+/Papias) with Dr. Dennis R. MacDonald
🔥Special thanks to my Co-Producer, Stephen Nelson, for the illustrations of the Gospels!🔥 Dennis Ronald MacDonald (born 1946) is the John Wesley Professor of New Testament and Christian Origins at the Claremont School of Theology in California. MacDonald proposes a theory wherein the earliest books of the New Testament were responses to the Homeric Epics, including the Gospel of Mark and the Acts of the Apostles. The methodology he pioneered is called Mimesis Criticism. If his theories are correct then "nearly everything written on [the] early Christian narrative is flawed." According to him, modern biblical scholarship has failed to recognize the impact of Homeric Poetry. The other major branch of MacDonald's scholarly activity is his contribution to the Synoptic Problem. He calls his solution the Q+/Papias Hypothesis. In his resolving of the synoptic problem Dr. Dennis R. MacDonald agrees with the Farrer hypothesis that Luke knew Matthew, but also believes that Luke & Matthew were drawing from another source other than the gospel of Mark. He also proposes that Luke may have know Papias rather than Papias knowing of Luke. The lost gospel is evident according to Dr. MacDonald by using methods of reversed priority where Luke and Matthew appear to be using material older than Mark for their gospels. =========================================== Get all of Dennis R.
