This year, 2025, is seeing an increase in bear-related damage across the country. A promising baby boy was born on July 7th, 2025, to Akita dogs, which are said to be bear-resistant. This is the baby puppy, Asahi. Hachi: A Dog's Story → Asahi's Story His mother is FairladyRED's Lily, the red-haired lady who gave birth to Fukurai and Mutsu, regular exhibitors. The name Asahi is unusual, but it's familiar to many as it's the same kanji used in the name of Asahi Breweries. Asahi made his first appearance at a two-month-old event hosted by the Akita Prefecture Southern Branch of the Akita Inu Preservation Society. Two weeks later, at just three months old, he made his first appearance at the Southern Akita Branch exhibition.
