Legendary Trails. Likya Yolu. Day 3. Silent solo Hiking. Nature Ambience

"The morning of the third day began with rural views. Yediburunlar is a small village where you can replenish supplies and spend the night if you're hiking without a tent. Goats and sheep have been grazing in the area since early morning. At one point, I was surprised by a shepherd sitting in a tree with three dogs. All three dogs then followed me, and then ran off in an unknown direction. The trail in this area is very picturesque! Especially in favorable weather conditions, like mine. A light breeze and clouds. The bushes are blooming all around, turning the trail into a park for strolls. There are now ten times fewer tourists on the trail than at the start. Most of the people who remain are those hiking the entire Western Lycian Trail or even further. The trail itself is easy, with only one section requiring a descent down some rocks. After this descent, I met two other hikers, Alexander and Evgeniya, during a tea break. Alexander and I will hike the next section to the sea in rain and hail, just to be on the safe side, since he's wearing sneakers and it's his first time on such a hike. We'll meet up with Evgenia later and hike a few more sections. Meanwhile, Alexander and I are walking along a damp trail. Thunder rumbles ominously nearby, but you don't pay attention to the lightning. You watch your step, lest you fall a little too fast. It's hail, fine. It melts immediately, but somewhere up in the mountains, snow is falling very close, and in the morning it will be clearly visible even from the beach. The rain is short, southern. It doesn't linger long, just wets the bushes and ends, and as soon as it stops, Alexander and I are almost down to the sea. It's funny that he's here by accident. He works in IT and doesn't really go on real hikes, but here he wanted to go, and he went to Western Lycia, as far as he can go. And I did make it! The next day, I'd meet him by chance at the ruins of Patara, more than fifteen kilometers beyond the beaches. Our paths diverged at the ruins of the Pydnai fortress. Endless beaches and a choppy sea lay before me. I grabbed a bite at a campsite and set off to trample the sands along the sea. The wind was devastating. Rain clouds lingered over the mountains, threatening to return and add a refreshing breeze, and with every kilometer, the beach narrowed, threatening to disappear altogether. Amidst this activity, a group of Russian-speaking tourists caught up with me, but didn't go far. Just a couple of kilometers further, we hit a dead end. Where the map showed a ford, there was choppy sea and wind, but the depth was clearly waist-deep, judging by the floating trees, and it was completely unknown what lay beneath the dirty water. Another wave of rain rolled in. The group decided to call a taxi with the help of some locals, and I even considered going with them to the city to buy supplies and navigate the ford, but the taxi never showed. Locals offered to take the guys, and I figured the location and timing weren't so bad after all, so I spent the night next to a couple of Turkish travelers. They were relaxing in a campervan and heating up tea on a fun stove. They could recharge their batteries there, and there was running water at the dead-end. Finding a spot for a tent by the sea was no problem, so that's where we spent the night. I just popped in from time to time to photograph this beautiful moment on Patara beach and ate sandwiches and tea between the tent and the campervan in the company of hospitable Turks."
