Standards for Use of Machinery in the European Union and Germany

Prolight + Sound Shanghai 2020 Online Conference Summary: There are many standards in the European Union and Germany that manufacturers and users of machinery in the entertainment technology industry should know. Especially if they wish to bring products to those markets. This video explains the basic structure of those standards and includes some specific information about the use of machinery in our sector in Germany. The VPLT is the German Entertainment Technology Association and is directly involved in legislative processes in Germany and at the EU level and is a member of DIN and is represented in European (CEN/TC 433) standards committees. Speaker: Mr Randell Greenlee Mr Greenlee has been Director for Commerce and International Affairs at VPLT, the German Entertainment Technology Association, since 2014. Previously, he worked as a scene and lighting designer in professional theatres in the US and Europe before beginning a career as an international consultant for live events. He is a lecturer at the VPLT learning centre, DEAplus. He represents the VPLT through its membership in the World Entertainment Technology Federation and the Event Safety Alliance. He is a voting member for Germany in the CEN Technical Committee “Entertainment Technology” and a representative for the VPLT at DIN.
