Antonio Caldara: Magnificat! Ensemble PHOENIX, Madrigal Singers, Myrna Herzog

This is the magnificent MAGNIFICAT by Antonio Caldara, the one copied in the early 1740s by J.S. Bach, who even arranged the Suscepit Israel movement (BWV 1082). Caldara was one of the most famous composers of his time, and left us more than 70 operas. Comparing Caldara to his contemporary Vivaldi, the composer Stravinsky said: «Vivaldi is greatly overrated […], Caldara, I respect».
