Shanghai Starts Using New Pedestrian Crosswalk Warning System

The Shanghai police installed a new pedestrian crosswalk warning system in the Bund area of Shanghai before the National Day holidays, the first of its kind in China. The system also has the function of alerting traffic offenders, and will be used on the surrounding roads of the upcoming first China International Import Expo. Compared with the traditional red and green indicators, the new system has a number of LED indicators being installed on the street and on the ground. When the traffic is permitted or forbidden, the corresponding green and red indicators will be switched on to give more obvious signs. At the same time, the system can also be used to alert people who run red lights. In addition to voice and light alerts, the system is equipped with a high-pixel camera with the function of capturing and checking pedestrians who go against the traffic sign. The photos of those violators will be released in real time on the LED electronic screen as a deterrent. http://www.cctvplus.com/news/20181008...
