  / motorhomefulltime   Vibo Marina is located on the western coast of Calabria, Italy. Unfortunately when I visited in the second week of December 2012, there was bad weather and storms. The average temperature at Christmas over the previous three years had been 24C - that year it was going to be much less. The locals were complaining at how cold it was. All I could say is that it was much warmer than Warsaw, London or Newcastle. Vibo Marina ihas around 10,000 inhabitants. It lies in the Gulf of Saint Eufemia, on the Tyrrhenian Sea near Pizzo. In the 3rd century BCE, Agathocles the tyrant of Syracuse ordered the construction of a harbour where Vibo Marina now stands. Vibo Marina was originally called Porto Santa Venere (Saint Venus' Harbour). A legend tells that the local fishermen discovered on the sandy shore a statue of Saint Venus.
