This was honestly one of the most overwhelming and beautiful nights of my entire time living here, and I had to bring you guys along for the whole experience. In this American reacts vlog, we head to Križanke, an absolutely stunning outdoor concert venue in the heart of Ljubljana, for an Independence Day celebration hosted by the US Embassy in Slovenia. I expected maybe fifty people. Instead we walked into a crowd of well over a thousand people, and the energy was completely insane from the moment we arrived. We get into the food first because, come on, you guys know I always have to check out what's on the table. Shrimp fried noodles, spicy cream cheese with pecans, caviar, salmon sandwiches… the spread at this embassy event was next level fancy and I was not ready for it. While we're grazing, I also finally answer one of the questions I get asked constantly on this channel: why is she always the one driving? I break down the real difference between American driving culture and Slovenian driving culture, manual versus automatic, and why my license literally does not let me drive here. If you've ever wondered about that, this is the video where I finally explain it. From there the night gets even bigger. We hear remarks from the new US Ambassador to Slovenia, the national anthem plays, and the whole crowd goes quiet for a moment that genuinely gave me goosebumps. As an American living in Europe, having a moment like that surrounded by both Americans and Slovenians celebrating together hit different than I expected. Then the mood flips completely as the embassy turns into a watch party for a World Cup match, live music starts up from a band warming up backstage, and the sunset over Križanke is honestly unreal. The best part of this whole night, though, was the people. We met so many incredible people, locals and expats, embassy staff, friends of friends, people who recognized us from the channel. My voice was literally gone by the end of the night just from talking nonstop. No alcohol needed, just genuine conversation with genuinely kind people. After we left the embassy we grabbed a massive slice of pizza because the night was not over yet, and we capped it off watching the rest of the match together. This is exactly the kind of real, unscripted American reaction content I love making for you guys. Not a scripted reaction, just real life as an American living in Slovenia, dropped into a huge cultural and diplomatic event and figuring it out in real time. If you enjoyed this one, consider supporting the channel with a coffee, it genuinely helps keep this content going every single day:
