16 HOURS ABOARD CANADA'S MARINE ATLANTIC FERRY (North Sydney, Nova Scotia to Argentia, Newfoundland)

In this video, I take you aboard the Marine Atlantic for 16 hours aboard the ferry from North Sydney, Nova Scotia to Argentia, Newfoundland & Labrador. This twice-weekly service connects Cape Breton Island to the eastern side of Newfoundland, avoiding the long drive across the province from the alternate ferry terminal at Port-aux-Basques in western Newfoundland. Until now, I'd only travelled to Newfoundland & Labrador by air, so I was definitely eager to check out this North Atlantic voyage from North Sydney to Argentia! Though I was initially planning on utilizing the airplane-style deck seats for the overnight trip (which are free, as cabins are booked MONTHS in advance), I was soon informed that my waitlist request for a cabin had come through, so I opted to pay the extra $223 or so for a proper bed. Was this worth it? Probably not - unless you absolutely demand a comfortable place to rest. Overall, I found the amenities on board to be more than comfortable and adequate for this 16-hour crossing (if a bit expensive). Regardless of cost, it's undeniable that this ferry is definitely the most convenient way to reach the greater St. John's area, rather than taking the short ferry to Port-aux-Basques and driving the roughly 12-14 hours across the province.
