It would succeed the current King Khalid International Airport, and would be built around it. The transformational urban masterplan project is to enhance Riyadh’s position as a global logistics hub, stimulate transportation, trade, and tourism, and serve as a bridge linking the East with the West. King Salman International Airport is expected to be one of the world’s largest airports, covering an area of approximately 57 square kilometres, allowing for six parallel runways and several terminals.
