Exploring the McCarthy area in Alaska from July 25th to 28th, 2022. Driving the Richardson Highway, Highway 10, and the bumpy McCarthy Road, enjoying the scenery along the way. Camping in Copper River Campground and Base Camp Kennecott Campground. Watching people dipnetting in the Copper River and admiring the fish wheels along the shoreline from afar. Strolling the streets of McCarthy and savoring dinner at the Bear & Salmon Restaurant. Taking the free shuttle from McCarthy to Kennecott National Historic Site in Wrangell-St. Elias National Park. Hiking the Root Glacier Trail out to the glacier. Learning some history from our St. Elias Alpine Guide during the Kennecott Mill Town Tour. Taking in the views from inside the 14-story copper mill.
