Quite a bit of drive from Interlaken Switzerland to Annecy France. The city that I wanted to see for a long time. An alpine city close to Mont Blanc. Lake Annecy feeds into the Thiou River. Vieille Ville (old town) with cobbled streets, winding canals and pastel-colored houses. Overlooking the city, the medieval Château d’Annecy, once home to the Counts of Geneva, contains a museum with regional artifacts such as Alpine furniture and religious art, plus a natural history exhibit. Vieille Ville - straddling the Thiou river, packed with medieval houses, almost feel like the houses soon crumble down. Église Notre Dame de Liesse - very old but preserved quite well through restoration efforts. Porte Notre-Dame - the historical gateway to canals of the city. Things look very ancient that you won't see from other cities. Quai de l'Île - along the Thiou river, small walkways guarded by rails bring you to nostalgic sentiments. Where am I standing now? Antique shops all around selling objects you never knew existed. Narrow roads covered in cobblestone damaged here and there don't matter much since your eyes mostly are glued to changing surroundings. Palais de I'Île - tiny islet that attracts all tourists camera shutters houses small historical museum building. Pont Perrière - a bridge that provides perfect photo spot for canals and river side buildings. Hôtel de Ville d'Annecy - city hall that majestically stands tall between many other old buildings Cathédrale Saint-Pierre - Catholic church. Adorned with vaulted ceilings and stained glasses. What an old city, everywhere you go you feel like it needs some renovations. Drove back toward Geneva Switzerland and checked into our hotel in Annemasse France and drove to Geneva to return the car. Didn't do much in Geneva since we already did the city tour on our first day in Switzerland and took the train back to our hotel where we had our last dinner. #travel #france #annecy #walkingtour #smartphonevideo
