When these traits combine you get individuals who are not only grandiose and lacking in empathy but are also cruel, manipulative and ruthless in their pursuit of power and domination. Malignant narcissists are master manipulators. They create personas that project success, confidence, superiority or kindness, whatever they need to be in order to get what they want. But what happens when they get caught out, when their scheming catches up with them and they begin to lose control over someone or some group they've dominated?
