The Art of Graffiti: Steve ESPO Powers
Steve ESPO Powers is an artist from Philadelphia who wrote graffiti under the name ESPO. With a distinctive approach to bombing, ESPO would paint high traffic areas in daylight under the ruse of legality, making it appear that what he was doing was legal. Painting gates with a brush, he would write ESPO in large legible letters; telling authorities he represented ESPO "Exterior Surface Painting Outreach" organization. Steve Powers stopped writing in 1999 and began the path of a full time artist. He is a mixed media artist who has shown prowess in printmaking, installation art, murals, sign painting and more. His work has been shown in places ranging from Deitch Projects to the Brooklyn Museum. His work can also been seen at ESPO's Art World, an art studio/gallery located in Brooklyn, New York founded by Steve Powers. http://livingproofnewyork.com / livingproofnewyork
