MGS Seminar Series - Klara Kjome-Fisher & Peter Bergenross | Pine Bend Impact Structure Research
Minnesota Geological Survey Seminar Series | Klara Kjome-Fisher & Peter Bergenross – Deformation features of the Mt. Simon Sandstone in the Pine Bend Impact Structure & Discovering a negative anomaly: Gravity survey of the Pine Bend impact structure Join us for a special presentation by Carleton College Undergraduate Students Klara Kjome-Fisher and Peter Bergenross as part of the Minnesota Geological Survey Seminar Series. This seminar highlights Klara and Peter's Undergraduate Senior Thesis research on the Pine Bend impact structure, a buried ancient meteor impact site in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota. Klara explores deformation features preserved in core samples to better understand the processes that shaped the crater during impact formation, while Peter presents new gravity survey data and geophysical models that reveal the crater’s size, structure, and subsurface properties.
