Acoustic distressing and slotting the bridge

Do these things really help the tone of an acoustic guitar? I took my Kalamazoo KG14 reproduction guitar and tried the equivalent of a "Stage 1 age", or my own version of a Murphy lab, which is mostly just cracking the lacquer on the top and scuffing it up a bit. Afterwards, I grabbed some files and slotted the bridge so that the ball end of the stings make better contact with the bridge plate. I played a demo of each stage of the guitar so hopefully we can hear a difference! Let me know in the comments!
