The Story of Dan McBride's Famous 1911

Dan McBride is the WWII vet who I had the closest relationship with aside from my own grandfathers. He was always so generous with his time and his loss will always be felt by myself and his other friends at the WWII Airborne Demonstration Team. One of my favorite stories revolved around his famous 1911. A pistol that was predestined to belong to a member of the 2nd Battalion, 502nd PIR, of the 101st Airborne! Dan McBrides experiences in the first few hours of D-Day would lead to Dan using an American folding stock M1 Carbine, a captured German STG44, and finally a captured German Lugar which he ended up trading for his beloved 1911.
