GSX Knuckles! (8 complete part groups)
Your tires are only important if they can do 2 things. Rotate, and maintain their proper alignment at all times. While tires aren't responsible for your alignment, they quickly become a problem if it's off. So if either one of those 2 things aren't right with your tires, you're in trouble. I just rebuilt all 4 of the things responsible for that. Aside from the obvious things like steering which I've already addressed, all of the components responsible for those 2 critical functions are in the knuckles. The hubs, the bearings, the bushings... all of those are critical to the safety and handling characteristics of your car. They just also happen to have the brakes in the sandwich, too. Due to the early 2g AWD DSM's inclusion of a 3rd mechanical parking brake system, the ABS system, pieces of the suspension parts group, both of the hydraulic braking systems, as well as having to rebuild rather than replace some of the parts involved in doing this work... There's a whole lot of parts involved to restore the things responsible for controlling where your rubber meets the road. That parts sandwich stacks up pretty high, and for safety reasons the ingredients of that sandwich are very specific! But once assembled, you have only 4 assemblies. Not hundreds of separate pieces on shelves. That's what this video's about. Progress. The end game is hanging 4 of these things and making them part of 1 car. We are SO much closer to that. This car is being built for street use. Much of what I'm doing is overkill for that purpose. It has a reputation and history of participating in car shows, and my restoration's goal is to maintain that history and improve upon that theme. It's unusual to be assembling parts that look like this on a street car, but in addition to the benefits of how it looks, these coatings will also preserve these components out in the elements. Even if it never competes in another show again, these efforts are in hopes of giving it another 30 years of love on this planet. Thank you all for being a part of it! If you're interested in supporting my efforts in documenting this journey, and getting access to additional videos and content ad-free, please consider supporting my builds and production at / jafromobile I couldn't produce anything like this without their support, all of it goes into what you see here, and everything helps. All benefits begin at $1 per sponsored upload, and you'll be in my credits for as long as you hang around. Please don't contribute any more than what my efforts are worth to you because I'll be here doing this for a while... And if you can't, that's cool, too! Go check out Tony's off-road channel instead. That's free. There's some cool trails and tech tips. Tell him Jafro sent you and enjoy the trails! / running925
