He also argued that the opening up of imports is having a direct impact on local factories and that competing with China is unfeasible due to cost differences. In this context, he mentioned the cases of companies like FATE and Whirlpool, which had state-of-the-art technology but now cannot find a market for their equipment. In his view, the downturn is not affecting large, concentrated corporations but rather medium and small businesses, and he warned that producing in the current climate means operating at a loss.
