Cerebral Palsy Affected Children with Crouch Gait : Outcome After SEMLS | Trishla Foundation
Crouching is a very common presentation in diplegic spastic cerebral palsy. Initially, most of the children affected with cerebral palsy start walking on the tip of their toes but with time, their gait pattern may change into crouch gait. Crouch gait develops because of multiple factors like overstretched gastrocsoleus, tight knee flexor, planovalgus feet & ext tibial torsion. Crouching should be prevented by good therapy and judicious use of a brace, hamstring spasticity by botulinum toxin but fixed contracture & torsion can only be managed by surgical intervention. Post-surgical therapy & proper brace should be continued for a long duration to prevent recurrence and increase in deformity. 👉About Dr Jitendra Kumar Jain Dr Jitendra Kumar Jain, MS Ortho (PGI Chandigarh) & DNB Ortho is a Senior Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon & Chairman of Trishla Foundation, India.
