列車内での不審者対応訓練

On the 28th, JR East Mito Branch and the Prefectural Police conducted a training exercise for dealing with a suspicious person on a train at JR Mito Station in Miyamachi, Mito City. Approximately 100 people from the branch and Mito Police Station participated, reviewing response procedures and coordinating with relevant agencies. The training exercise assumed a man brandishing a knife and causing a disturbance on a moving train. A passenger contacted the conductor, who then reported the incident to the driver over the radio and rushed to the scene. While keeping his distance from the man pretending to be the perpetrator, he urged passengers to evacuate to the adjacent car. While the conductor was responding by telling passengers to remain calm, the train arrived at the station, and members of the Railway Police and Mito Police Station rushed to the scene and apprehended the man. Police officers headed to the scene from the police boxes at the north and south exits of the station, conducting a more practical training exercise. Stationmaster Hisashi Maruyama said, "With the Tokyo Olympics coming up this summer, we will be seeing many passengers, including foreigners.
