Dandelions in keyboard!! --Time-lapse-- Hydroponics powered!

Congratulations, You've found this video's information field! This is an achievement not shared by the hundreds of people that will be making comments like this: "What music is playing at xx:xx?" :) You also just discovered the group of videos that show up as "suggested videos" after you've finished watched ALL the cat videos and car crash compilations on YouTube. This is quite an achievement and I know I'm dealing with a professional time waster. Well, here's Your chance to waste another 12+ minutes! (that's before you slow down the watching speed to 25%) Story as follows: While I was making my "Cress in keyboard" video I was pondering what else I could grow in there. Tomatoes was suggested in the comments section, and that would've been fun, but filming it would be a challenge as they climb all over the place. Luckily someone suggested dandelions! I had actually harvested some dandelion seeds during the summer. I'm not quite sure why, but they came in really handy. Setup: I found a reservoir, filled it with donated aquarium water (thanks Eivind!), inserted a small aquarium pump, set up some growth lights, and attached a welded/punctured plastic feeding line. I then set the timer to flow for 15 minutes per hour and connected the power. The keyboard has several drainage holes, so I believe it was designed with hydroponics i mind from the start. The plan was to make this setup a hybrid of hydroponics and aquaponics since I wasn't going to involve/torture live fish in a four liters tank. A good week went by, and then there were sprouts coming! The aquarium water makes the plants grow, but I had to replace it weekly to keep momentum, In the end I gave in and got me some fertilizer and a PPM-o'meter. No flowers: I'm not sure how long you need to keep dandelions growing until they bloom, but this was taking forever. In the gravel outside the house it would take a week! I was using two different growth lights, and maybe the wavelengths were off so the plants thought it was early spring all along. The decision to pull the plug on the project was eventually made when entering the third month and flies started thriving in the dead leaves. So, I hope you got to waste some watching time here. I personally enjoyed the closeups of the leaves and the epilogue music. Lessons learned: Clear plastic tubes are not the best for flowing water in highly fertilized water. After a month, I was unclogging the line at least once every day to maintain flow. A large reservoir is lager than a small one :) Make a plan for where to collect/do water sampling. Not behind the plant as I had to do it. Try not to put a setup like this in the living room as wife gets frustrated after a couple of days. Seeds get flushed through the keyboard. Apply some kind of growth medium. Fertilizer used: "Superba NPK: 14-4-21". This worked really well, and to my knowledge the plants were thriving as long as they didn't experience any drought. (please educate me if you spot any deficiencies during the video) Disclaimer: The keyboard wasn't working before the video, and I'm certain the flowing didn't fix it. I did clean it after, so it's ready in case I need to grow me some watermelons or pumpkins.
