As a pilot, you need to know, before taking off, that the airplane will be sufficient performance to complete the planned trip in the expected conditions. How much runway will the airplane need to take-off? What cruise airspeed will the airplane achieve? How much fuel will it consume? How much runway will the airplane need to land?
